New York (1/4)

I'm having some frustration with software! So, even though I have taken photos recently, none of them are ready to post. So instead you get more old photos. First up... New York City. Last year I went on a quick weekend trip with my brother, and it was a blast! I would love to go back sometime when I had more time to shoot!

This first photo really isn't my favorite, so I thought I'd get it over with! :) My husband really likes it a lot, so I thought I'd post it. I don't know how people ever get perfectly crisp photos of the Brooklyn Bridge in the evening. Even with a tripod (which I didn't have), the bridge just shakes and moves so much because of all the traffic. Anyway, I'll have to try again on another trip.

Jen, I think this photo is fantastic - it has a full range of tones, and it tells a great story of a city that never sleeps. Well done.

Your husband is a good judge, I really like the photo too. Brooklyn Bridge is a place I'd love to photograph at some point.

@Mike: Thanks Mike! The bridge really is a lot of fun, with so many fun photo ops! I'd really like to give it another try some time, with a tripod! :)

@JanW: Thanks! I was leaning halfway over the railing you see in the center so I could capture both people on foot and in cars at the same time. :)

@Eric Cousineau: My husband is a good reminder that we all like different things in art. We often disagree about photos and what makes them good. So sometimes I post pics that I don't care for but that he likes. It's always fun to get other opinions too. We really do all see things differently! :) I'm glad you liked this one! :)

Great shot. b&w helps make it more appealing. I have a problem similar as you. I should listen to the people around me more.

@Lee: Thanks Lee! I think sometimes we're so busy trying to be better that we keep seeing flaws, seeing what we could have done better. And it's nice to get outside opinions from people that see more than that. My husband's good for keeping me in check that way! :)

great twilight shot, Jen - the lamps give it a very moody feel - NYC has a timeless sense to me anyway, especially in b&w; and on the crisp vs blur front, many tremendous street shots have an element of blur to them - no worries
