About Jen

I discovered my interest in photography when I was pretty young and got my first point and shoot. I remember visiting some relatives in the mountains of North Carolina and shooting an entire roll of film of all the wildflowers and trees. Not a single one of them was any good, but it was so much fun!

It's been a long journey since then, and I've only gotten truly serious in the last few years. I'm kicking myself for waiting so long!! I really enjoy a wide variety of photography styles, but my true love is flowers, particularly macro shots. However, I've certainly dabbled in plenty of other areas. In 2008 I did a photo-a-day project and it forced me to come up with different things to shoot every day. It was a great opportunity for me to try out all kinds of photography styles, and it improved my skills tremendously! Of course, I still have enormous amounts of learning in front of me!

Aside from photography my other major passion is writing. I'm currently working on a contemporary fantasy project. Who knows? Maybe one day I'll be a best selling author! (I can dream, right?) I also have a great love of the outdoors and try to spend as much time in it as possible. St. George, UT (where I live) is overflowing with outdoor recreation areas - for hiking, climbing, camping, and plenty of photography!

I have been married for 8 years and owe everything that I am to my husband. He believes in me, motivates me and keeps me going, and he's just plain fun to be with!!
